How We Make a Difference

Ally Action seeks not only to educate staff and teachers about LGBTQ youth but also to motivate and support them in creating safer school environments for these and all youth.

Post-Training Results:

  • The vast majority (86%) of staff who’ve experienced Ally Action training went on to support school-wide efforts to create safer school environments for LGBTQ youth.
  • Nearly half (49%) of participating staff have taken additional action in support of LGBTQ youth and in creating safer school environments for all students.

Youth are speaking out for themselves and owning their own communities.  Ally Action Youth members are developing their talents, connecting and partnering with adult allies, and accessing resources to help them thrive as leaders in their communities.

“Joining PRYDE was one of the best choices I’ve made in my life.  Not only has it taught me valuable skills, but I’m enacting positive change within the community and surrounding communities in which I live.”  -Timesha, Pittsburg, 17

The number of new LGBTQ allies is increasing.  Through our work together, youth and adults overcome the disconnections that often lead to rampant bullying and harassment experienced on today’s school campuses.

Post-Training Results:

  • 64% of students who participate in Ally Action youth-led classroom education are more likely to be respectful of LGBTQ people.
  • Nearly a third (30%) of these student participants indicate that they are now more likely to be an ally to LGBTQ people.
