What We Believe

Ally Action envisions a world in which each and every member of every school community is valued, respected and supported across all layers of individual, family and community identity and experience; in which each and every member of every school community has the tools and the power to create safe and just school communities for all as an ally.

We are committed to realizing this vision by working toward social justice and engaging individual and organizational capacities, one classroom at a time.

• EQUITY.  We will work to ensure that everyone has equal access to a safe, inclusive and effective learning environment, regardless of sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression.   
• JUSTICE.  For schools to be truly safe for all, our efforts to end anti-LGBT violence and bias will be grounded in ongoing broader anti-oppression work in the areas of personal understanding, interpersonal relations, and our organizational programs, operations and governance. 
• PERSONAL CONNECTIONS.  We will nurture the web of local connections and strong personal relationships within communities that we believe will ultimately transform neighborhoods and culture.  
• PARTNERSHIPS.  We need participants of all ages as co-learners and co-creators in the pursuit of social change, and we will be intentional about structuring youth-adult partnerships in our programs, operations and governance. 
• INTEGRITY & ALLY LEARNING.  We who are part of Ally Action recognize that we are learners and we are committed to building co-learning communities together.
